Taro’s gear review on Ultra Tungsten Weights
Ultra Tungsten Bullet Weights
Introduction
Ultra Tungsten bullet weights are made with 97% tungsten, which helps to make a lot of weight in a small size. There are an assortment of sizes and colors, as well as a screw on version.
Construction
These weights are built well and are very durable. The weight has smooth curved edges so the line can’t snap on high impact hook sets – this is a major problem with many other brands on the market. I’ve used these on several trips without a break off. My good friend and tournament pro David Chong used these this past summer religiously and without a break off.
Appearance
Ultra Tungsten have great colors for weights. They are very small and compact for the weight size.
Usage
These are very sensitive weights – you can feel ever little tick of the bottom. They are perfect for any type of Texas or Carolina rig application. The weights come in sliding and screw in versions as well.
Conclusion
There are other brands on the market with similar styles of weights. However, this brand is an excellent version of tungsten weights and are well worth the price. These weights retail for 20%-30% less than competing brands. In my opinion, why fish any other brand at the moment?
