Taro,

I just want to thank you for the many incredible fishing trips you have guided for me. I truly appreciate the professionalism and teaching skills you provide. It is the many years of experience and your willingness to teach that will keeps myself and my friends coming back time after time.  Recently we had my 4 best friends on board to celebrate my 40th and Taro produced a 55 catch walleye day. Many of us set personal records that day , 3 double headers was one record tough to beat. I know all days can’t be this good but if anyone can produce it’s Taro. I look forward to the many trips ahead.

Thanks your friend and loyal customer.

“Taro can consistently put me into fish. He tells me what to use and where to cast, and I get bites from big fish. The only thing I need to worry about is setting the hook and reeling them in!”

‘I have fished with numerous guides all over North America for more years than I care to admit, but few have impressed me as much as Taro. His knowledge of home waters, the many species that inhabit them and what is required to catch them is outstanding. He also offers more trophy fishing opportunities for more species of fish than any other guide I have encountered. I heartily recommend Taro’s services. He is unique in his field.

Fish City Tours headed by Taro provides the best fishing experience for anyone who loves to fish.  He shares his knowledge openly, creates a fun and relaxing atmosphere and allows me to improve my fishing skills.  I’ve been fishing all of my life but never caught so many in quantity and in quality sizes in my life.  I strongly taking a trip with Taro if you want to have the time of your life on the water!

Your thoughtfulness and graciousness was very much appreciated from his family who enjoyed his fishing story and the smile on his face. All our lives we have listened to fishing stories but his story from your fishing day together was by far the best. He was so very excited. I highly recommend Taro Murata and Fish City Tours.

Thanks again for giving my 93 year old father Al Johnston a day of happiness and memory for life,

“Taro is truly a master at what he does.  He’s humble, friendly, extremely knowledgeable, experienced with many hours on the water, and separates himself from others with his ability to adapt to any condition.  Simply put, he knows where the fish are, and how to get them to bite.  On the one outing I boated more trophy smallies that day than all my years of fishing, even established new personal bests many times within the day!  I would recommend Taro to anyone whether they are experienced or not!”

“Regardless if you’re a newbie or a seasoned veteran, do yourself a favour and give Taro a try.  Fishing isn’t an exact science, but Taro’s approach seems pretty darn close.  And the best thing is, he’s willing to share his knowledge with his clients.  The educational component alone was worth the cost.  Best dollars I’ve ever spent.  Not to mention he’s just a straight-up nice guy who made our day very memorable”.

Thanks again Taro.  Looking forward to many other trips together!

“I’ve been fishing for almost 30 years. My fishing buddy of close to 20 years was getting married and wanted to go on a Pike trip before his wedding. After doing a little research I got a hold of Taro Murata. The first time I called him to arrange the trip he answered the phone from his boat while fishing. I figured this was a good sign:) The day of our trip the weather was challenging. It was cold, windy, rainy, and we eventually got snow. My expectations for this day were pretty low due to the conditions. I wasn’t expecting snow in May!?!? Taro put us on a pretty good pattern and we caught fish at our first stop. The weather kept changing, but Taro knew spots all over the lake. Taro showed us techniques we had not seen before, and we were grateful for that. Especially because they produced several fish. We had a great lunch and had an amazing day of fishing. I had never caught so many quality fish in one day. The icing on the cake happened with about an hour left in our trip. We were hiding from the wind behind a point on the lake. Taro was experimenting with a different pattern, and caught a huge Crappie. He got us all doing the same thing and we caught close to 20 monster Crappie in that final hour. A definate surprise after such an unforgetable day of Pike fishing. I would not hesitate to book with Taro again, and recommend him highly. He is dedicated, informed, and entertaining”.

“All I can say is wow…Top notch, my daughter’s first Canada fishing trip and we were on fish all day long. I don’t think I’ve ever been in the boat with anyone with that much and knowledge and know how when it comes to fishing. There will never be a second guess for the next trip (hopefully soon). I was hooked as soon as we got into the boat literally…lol. My daughter didn’t have much experience fishing the way we were but 15 mins into the trip she could of out fished the pros”.
Thanks again for one of my greatest fishing experiences,

Thank you for teaching me so much more than I ever knew”.

“Every trip with Taro has been fantastic. It’s not just the trophy bass and pike (although there were so many we lost count!) Taro brings a spirit of fun and adventure that keeps my 10 year old begging to go back. Taro is a true sportsman with an amazing ability to find the fish. This is a fantastic way to spend a day with my son – I highly recommend Fish City for a great father/son outing.”

Stop…… Swammer Time!

Every now and then a new special bait comes along. This past year I have had the privilege of using a bait that was not yet on the market. This bait I speak of is called the X-Zone “Swammer”. It comes from the swimbait family but it has a special unique quality that makes it stand out in the crowd. It has a sublte uncanny life like wiggle that all fish cannot resist in even the toughest of days. I also was allowed into the creator Mark Kulik’s workshop where I got to see the thought process and the great attention to detail that goes into each bait. I predict it is one of those baits that will be rigged on almost every serious anglers boat in the near future. I would go even go as far as saying it has the revolutionary quality of that of a Senko, Tube or Slammer.

I am a full time guide from April until December and since last November 2010 until now my clients and I have been catching almost everything that swims on it. The bait was originally designed for Bass but it seems to be the best multi-species bait going at the moment. While using the Swammer we have caught Steelhead, Brown Trout, Largemouth, Crappie, White Bass, Carp, Smallmouth, Lake Trout, Pike, Musky, Walleye and Whitefish so far. Many anglers I know have been smashing numerous Whitefish and Lake Trout through the ice on it. They too are so excited and make bold statements like how this bait is changing their life as ice anglers. I quickly reply and say “it is changing my life too”, its like their is a “Swammer” brotherhood going on and we all preach its greatness, lol!

Mark Kulik has designed three sizes to cover different moods and species of fish. I saw him test these in the lake in front of his house. I have to say I have never seen a swimbaits swim so well. The Big Swammer otherwise know as the Mega Swammer moves excellent even when rigged weightless. You can burn this bait or fish it dead slow weightless and it still works equally as well. Almost all swimbaits on the market roll when rigged weightless and pushed to these limits but not this one, truly insane! I heard that some really big time Elite Series champions got there hands on some. I heard that one of these “Big Timers” say that it was the best swimbait they had ever seen and that they wished they had a whole suitcase full of them. Sorry I can’t mention their names due to possible sponsor conflicts.

I know all of this sounds like one big ol’ commercial but look at the pics of some of the fish my clients and I are catching on my Facebook page at http://www.facebook.com/taro.murata , these bait are so user friendly and effective, they are a guides dream!!!! I probably have gone though 600 or so of these baits since last Nov. We have caught fish through the ice on them, trolling them, strolling them, skipping them, pitching them on pegged Ultra Tungsten weights, dragging, casting and reeling them, drop shotting them, dunking them, burning them, rigging them Texasposed on weighted Owner Beast hooks—the point is these things are so unbelievably versatile they have changed the way I will fish forever. For example instead of fan casting a spinnerbait in front of docks while the other guy pitches to the docks try fan casting a Texas rigged Swammer on a Owner beast hook. My clients caught ton of fish covering large amounts of open water with a Swammer rigged like this. My clients are catching giant fish other anglers are completely missing. because of the Swammer The bait allows to cover water in a super finesse way, I honestly believe we would have never caught as many these big open water fish as we did if we used something as mechanical looking as a spinnerbait.

There have been many special days using this bait but one day that stands out to me is a day with my clients Dave and Josh Tong when they smashed 49 giant Smallies in between 3.5-5.5 pounds on Lake Simcoe on a tough day when guys were struggling out there for one or two bites. I believe we had have struggled too but luckily my buddy Mark gave me a bag to try out. The fish were super lethargic and it was at the end of Nov. when the fish were almost in a hibernating mood but I thought I would give Mark Kulik’s new creation a try. Boy was I lucky I did, this bait woke up these lethargic fish and made them clobber it. All we did was drag them on 3/8-1/2 football heads and bang!! Too easy!!! Like I said at the beginning of this article the Swammer has the subtle natural wobble that fish just cannot resist, I stated it again because I think this is very important to understand that sometimes it is this super subtle wiggle that just makes fish hammer them over and over again. The best past example of a bait that had this type of versatility and subtle type of triggering mechanism was the Senko and its subtle wiggle on the fall. And now the Swammer!!!!!
